On June 11, 2019, UPholdings, along with 501(c)(3) Co-Developer, Fort Wayne Housing Authority, broke ground on the River’s Edge Apartments: a new Permanent Supportive Housing community for homeless and at-risk individuals and families with disabilities, joined by primary service partner Park Center and other Development Partners. River’s Edge will be a 56-unit new construction development in Fort Wayne, providing a mix of one- and two- bedroom units of Permanent Supportive Housing. The development will also include a specific set-aside for those experiencing chronic homelessness who are prioritized through the local Continuum of Care. All 56 units will be subsidized through vouchers from the Fort Wayne Housing Authority, and supportive services will be coordinated onsite by Park Center, Fort Wayne’s community mental health center and a Medicaid billing agency. River’s Edge will be located on Spy Run Avenue and is conveniently located near several grocery stores, parks, retail establishments and the Indiana University Purdue University Campus. Two bus lines connect the site directly to the downtown providing residents with a convenient and accessible transportation option. All units will include modern appliances, wooden cabinetry in bathrooms and kitchens and additional finishing touches such as closet organizers. All ground floor units will be accessible/adaptable, and an elevator will guarantee access to the building’s second floor. Any questions can be directed at info@upholdings.net.

Interesting update — it’s always nice to see new developments being shared in a straightforward and engaging way like this. Posts like these help give a clearer picture of progress behind the scenes that people don’t always get to see. I also read a related piece on a review blog https://grandoaksorthodontics.com/, which touched on how community-focused projects often shape long-term value in subtle but meaningful ways.

River’s Edge sounds like a meaningful project for Fort Wayne, especially because it combines stable housing with onsite supportive services. It’s encouraging to see accessibility, transportation, and nearby daily needs considered from the start.
